Pokemon X and Y was officially introduced yesterday by Pokemon. This event sparked much debate and discussion immediately after the announcement. This thread will talk about

Pokemon X and Y, presumably will be released together like every other previous Pokemon main series game. The game will be released on the Nintendo 3DS console and, from the looks of the announcement video will use the 3 Dimensional capabilities of the console to create a different appearance compared to other pokemon games. It shows great development in graphics and hopefully more fluid gameplay.
As the actual game and storyline is concerned not much is known. The short clip did not go into much detail about the new games but it did introduce a few important parts of the new games including the much anticipated introduction of new starter pokemon.
The starters for pokemon X and Y are known as Chespin the grass type, Fennekin the fire type and Froakie the water type. The clip showed each of these pokemon fighting in battle mode against other pokemon.
The video also introduced presumably new protagonists. A male and female character were both shown but the female character's face was not shown completely. Nothing else is known about these protagonists in fact but it is assumed that they will be referred to as trainer and x an trainer y. Or at least be called that in pokemon manga.
Finally two supposedly legendary pokemon were also introduced. These two appear to be version mascots with the y mascot looking like a bird and x like a reindeer. These pokemon were presented as being red and blue respectively.
This game looks very exciting and I'm sure that game freak will not disappoint so it's time to buy a 3DS and wait until the release date
